I was watching my new Blues Brothers disc the other night and it occurs to me that this is a pretty strongly religious - if admittedly irrelevant - flick. A story about falling and redemption, on a mission from god, trying to save an orphanage.
So apparently the secret is having a strong director with a great eye (John Landis has some creative angles and setups), a rock solid cast and some brilliant music with James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Cab Calloway - and of course the best damn car chase ever put on film.
