So I took a Philosophy of Eastern Religion in college and we spent a little time on Buddhism. I just read an article about some Buddhist statues in r/todayilearned and it made me curious. Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand Buddhism's goal is inner peace through "disconnecting," if you will, through separation from material things.
With this in mind, how do Buddhist people, or 'why' maybe, do those of the Buddhist faith need statues?
