I have several members of my family who are gay and I have personally seen the torment they have been through. The ridicule, bigotry, harassment. I have seen the pain in their eyes. My heart cries out to them knowing I can't take the pain away.
How have you managed to maintain your faith? I know being gay is NOT a choice. It has always baffled me why you would be born this way and then told you can never know intimacy or love.
I grew up in the LDS church (Mormon) and they have taught that if you are gay, you have no choice but to live a completely celibate life. No hand holding, no kissing, no living with someone of the same sex, no masturbation, nothing.
I'm just curious because my uncle is gay and he has been all on kinds of medication his whole life to block his emotions of depression and anxiety. It breaks my heart that he feels this way.
