Greetings everyone,
I'm just gonna get right into it. I am a Coptic Christian. I've been living in Egypt my whole life and I hate it. I do, I really really do. I come from an above-average (in terms of wealth) family and I like to think of myself as pretty well educated.
I'll be blunt. I hate Islam and , frankly , I'm starting to hate Muslims. There are some good Muslims sure but the majority? Well I get treated like shit almost ANYWHERE in this damn country except inside a Church and then Muslims wonder why Copts are so closed off and "they stick to their Churches". My name gets made fun of, I get called bigoted terms made up by Muslims to insult Christians (koftes , arba'a reesha , adma zarka). There are crimes comitted against my people almost daily that never gets reported in local news let alone worldwide news. We're alone and nobody is helping. I've thought many times of converting to Islam just to get this to stop...oh and don't let them fool you with the whole "Sisi and army are protecting Copts" BULLSHIT. They persecute us just as much as the Muslim Brotherhood did.
All this happens while the West never mentions what Muslims do to us.
Honestly, I feel like this country hates me and spits in my face...its not mine and I don't think I will ever think of it as my country after what I've been through. My grandmother is Italian so yeah I was able to become an Italian citizen, but I know that as soon as I move to Italy or the West in general, I'll be seen as another Middle Easterner in "white people land" and it'll just be a different kind of persecution.
I guess I just really needed to rant about this somewhere. I have no idea where I can or should go.....
