Hey everybody,
I grew up in a faith-based way, having attended church when I was young, went to a Catholic school during grade school, and sporadically attended church from high school to present.
Man, has the past year-and-a-half been rough. My Stepmother passed away after a long battle with cancer, I left a job I loved in a big city and moved back to my home county to be near my family who I am concerned for, a few family members are in poor health, the job I took when I moved back made me miserable (now at a job I'm happy with but underpaid), and I'm dealing with extreme depression due to finances, my career choice(miss my old job and company), and the overall health and conditions of close family and friends (one of my best friends is dealing with PTSD, and just isn't the same person).
Anyhow, at work today, I was speaking with a group of people who were in town for a missionary conference. A group of 4 girls in their early 20's were telling me about one of their group members who wasn't present that was fighting a tough battle with cancer. I shared my Stepmother's story, and how I lost two Grandmothers to cancer as well. I was asked what got me though it, and I simply replied "Prayer helped." The girls asked me a few other personal questions, and we had a good conversation. They asked me if they could pray for me, and I said they could.
Before I knew it, they huddled with me and prayed with me, and I had chills. It had been so long since a stranger(outside my family, friends, and girlfriend) seemed to care like this, I really felt like God was there, telling me to stay strong and everything will be ok.
Sorry for the long story, I just wanted to share this story. When you faith is tested, or when you are having truly trying times, you never know when God will send some angels your way.
