I have been in a protestant Christian household my entire life, and even went to a Christian college. I however have always had a deep frustration with actually relating to God. I have a lot of head knowledge but can't seem to "get it." I've heard a lot of people in a lot of contexts talk about a lot of things like "let go and let God." and "give it to God." I really don't know what that means. How do i actually relate to God? I've read the Bible cover to cover. I've participated in prayer events. I've gone on short term mission trips, service projects, evangelism efforts, and leading and following in church classes. I've gone across denominations and churches. I've gone to people I respect and asked everyone these questions, from Christian peers to pastors to atheist friends. However, I can't seem to actually "know" God in any relational sense. I'm kind of at a loss, which is why I'm posting this.
TL;DR How does one actually, in practice and not in theory, know God?
