Can we talk about street preaching?

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse but this stuff makes me itch. We've had in our lovely city(Melbourne) for the last week or so some street creatures claiming to preach the gospel. In my own opinion I think this kind if shouting and condemning people is ineffective and does not show the love of God in any way.

In your opinion, are these methods "effective"? Should we show love by telling people they are "going to burn in hell for their wickedness"?
