My pastor was talking about going to See You At The Pole, and how it would be a great show of support if a large number of people went to show that prayer can't be kept out of schools. I was immediately reminded of Matthew 6:5-6 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." My wife, then pointed out to me Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Perhaps a Biblical scholar can help me to jive these two seeming contradictory scriptures.
